A Word From Pastor Tom
As winter ended and spring began, the writer of the Song of Solomon wrote these words: “Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land” (Song of Solomon 2:12).
Our Savior also calls to us as we begin our summer journeys. He calls us from the chilly, damp, spring days to come forth and bloom as the sun brings, slowly each day, summer. It is a time of beauty, growth and relaxation for many of us.
My grandmother called them the lazy days of summer. Watching movies, riding bike, fishing, camping, soon the fireworks of the fourth of July and spending time with friends over the summer break.
We all long for such times, but Christ offers a different rest. He bids us to come to him especially if we are weary and heavy laden. He promises us rest and of course the place most appropriate to find the rest we need from the weariness of life is in worship.
I hope you will keep this a priority over the next ninety days as we have wind down programs until the fall.
